One of the most amazing places in Mexico and probably the world can be found pretty close to our gorgeous hotel in Tulum.

The Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is the largest protected area in Mexico as it covers a 120 kilometers area. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. The area is comprised of magnificent sites such as cenotes, beaches, dunes, a tropical jungle, and coral reefs. Hence an immense variety of flora and fauna, birds, marine life and terrestrial animals live in this paradisiac place. Although the Reserve is not to be considered a touristic spot, there are more than enough reasons to venture and discover this awesome site. Especially if you’ve already come this far, right?

What to do in the Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve?

This incredible and immense site is a source of inspiration for anyone who has a spirit of adventure, so get ready for an experience you will never forget. Whether you travel alone or in the company of friends and family, a visit to Sian Ka’an is something not to be missed. Although some areas are banned from the public, others can be visited respecting certain routes. For example, you can visit the archaeological site of Muyil, which was an important point of the Mayan commercial route. It has a spectacular lagoon of the same name and a viewpoint from where you can photograph the lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. There’s also a path that leads to the lagoon, where you can book a fun boat excursion through the canals.

If sailing is not your thing, you can also go adventure by land. The entrance to the reserve is right at the end of the hotel zone in Tulum and you can follow the track till you get to the beautiful town of Punta Allen, where you may find some accommodation options. Keep in mind that it may take you up to 5 hours in a regular car as the roads are not in the best condition, so it’s better to ride a Jeep or any other 4x4 vehicle, or else you won’t make it very far, especially with bad weather. If you decide to go on your own, you can visit one of its many virgin beaches; some of the few locals that inhabit this place offer camping spots on the beach for rent, but you’ll need to bring all your camping gear. As usual, our best recommendation is that you book a tour and trust the experienced guides take you on this fantastic adventure.

Recommendations for your visit to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve in Tulum:

First of all, respect the environment, the animals and the flora. Remember that you are visiting a pristine, almost paradisiac protected area. For your photos, use telephoto lenses to avoid approaching wild animals. Always use biodegradable products such as sunscreen and repellent (you’ll need a lot!) and collect any garbage that you may generate. As said before, the best way to enjoy this amazing spot is by booking a tour; Most of them offer a wild jeep ride through the paths and they take you to Punta Allen to enjoy the best seafood you’ve ever tried. Ask your concierge about the best options for visiting Sian Ka’an.

If you are on vacation in Tulum and would like to know about the best places to practice Yoga, keep on reading!

The Magical Town of Tulum is surrounded by an energetic connection with the natural elements, which makes it an ideal place for meditation, exercise and for the practice of any discipline that combines the environment with physical exercise and spirituality. That is why Tulum has been recognized as the World Capital of Yoga and both students and experts know it, that is why Tulum is today one of the main travel destinations for practitioners of this millenary discipline.

What better way to enjoy a good holiday away from the stress of everyday life, surrounded by beautiful landscapes such as Tulum’s white sand beaches and the turquoise sea, or the mystical cenotes that used to be ancient places of retreat and spiritual rites for the Mayan civilization. What about recharging your energy at one of the many impressive archeological zones that are found along the Riviera Maya? Now imagine being able to practice Yoga in this paradisiacal place!

There are several studios where you can practice yoga in Tulum, from the most equipped to the most organic, open places where you can join other people interested in this relaxing and healthy practice. However, we believe that you will be more interested in exploring the beautiful natural sites, where peace and harmony are really unbreakable and where you can really feel the energy that runs through your body and recharges you to undertake new adventures during your stay. And as you may know, it is possible to practice Yoga almost anywhere.

Of course, our first recommendation is that you practice in our beautiful facilities because that natural connection is present in every corner of our beautiful hotel. But if you decide to explore a bit, you can practice at the Tulum archaeological zone The set of ancient Mayan structures next to a cliff with a direct view of the beautiful Caribbean Sea, makes it an ideal place to connect with the energy of the planet. Keep in mind that this is one of the most popular places in the world, so you decide to try some practice here, be sure to do it early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Then we have a variety of cenotes available in the area. These are really magical places, considered to be the entrance to the underworld and where the ancient Maya held lots of rituals. It is possible in most of them to find a spot away from annoying tourists or people passing by where you can enjoy an unforgettable yoga session.

In case you wanna practice Yoga and live an exciting adventure, you can visit the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, where you will undoubtedly find several points where your meditation and exercises will merge in perfect harmony along the paradisiac coast and the magnificent view of the Caribbean sea. It’s like doing it at our hotel but with no one around.

Are you ready for the best Yoga practice of your life? Ask your Concierge about the options you can find both in our hotel and in other places of interest in Tulum, we are sure that you will enjoy your practice like nowhere else.
